Yellowhead Community Service Society is a nonprofit, charitable organization providing a wide range of services to residents in the North Thompson Valley and Fraser Canyon.
We acknowledge that we live and work on the ancestral, traditional and unceded territories of the Secwepemc and St’át’imc Nations. We pay respect to the First Peoples of these territories and extend that acknowledgment and respect to all Indigenous Peoples.
Our mission statement guides us in all we do; “Providing services through collaboration, leadership and innovation that create positive change and contribute to a healthy community.
“YCS has been incorporated for over 30 years, originally as Wells Gray Community Resources Society. As we have grown, we have added programs to our basket of services to provide wrap around care for residents of the communities we serve. Currently programs range from prenatal; children and youth; families; infant and supported child development; adults with developmental disabilities; substance dependency; counseling; affordable housing; employment services; food security; literacy; transit; women’s services; Trusted Third Party; seniors’ services; Indigenous services and licensed child care.
The majority of our services are provided free of charge. We are thankful for the ongoing financial assistance from a variety of sources, such as Provincial and Federal Government, foundations and corporate and individual donors that allow us to continue delivering free programming. Services with fees attached are often subsidized. Yellowhead Community Services is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International.
